Orig. in Jackson Springs, N.C., by North Carolina Agr. Expt. Sta. Introd. in 1968. Summercrest × Redhaven; cross made in 1957; first fruited in 1950; tested as NC 7366. <b>Fruit:</b> size medium; round or slightly elongated; skin smooth, light yellow ground color, 75% to 85% covered with bright red blush; pubescence short; flesh yellow, more resistant to browning than Redhaven, smooth melting texture, pleasing flavor; freestone when soft-ripe; ripens 2 to 3 days earlier than Redhaven. <b>Tree:</b> vigorous; productive; flowers nonshowy, self-fruitful; leaf glands reniform; chilling requirement about same as and blooms just after Redhaven; highly resistant to bacterial spot, rated better than Redhaven.
