Royal Gala (Red Gala, ten Hove Gala)

Orig. in Matamata, New Zealand, by H.W. ten Hove. Introd. in 1974 by D.W. McKenzie, Fruit Res. Orchard, Havelock North, New Zealand. Bud mutation of Gala, discovered in 1971. Skin bright scarlet striping over golden yellow ground color, glossy, very attractive, much more red than parent. Otherwise identical to Gala.
