Orig. in Excelsior, Minn., by the Univ. of Minn. Fruit Breeding Farm, from seed collected from the Seth Kenney orchard of Morristown, Minn., in 1908. Introd. in 1920. Malinda o.p.; selected in 1914; tested as Minn. 300. <b>Fruit:</b> size medium; oblate, sometimes slightly irregular; deep red striped and splashed to completely cover a yellow ground; flesh firm, fine-grained, crisp, tender, white or slightly tinged with yellow, medium juicy, flavor rich, aromatic, subacid, quality good; season November to February. <b>Tree:</b> hardy, vigorous and productive; well-shaped, rounded, moderately dense head.
